Dr. Seuss Plant Blue Tree Echium Blue Steeple Rare Seeds

Echium pininana is undeniably an eye stopper, a magnificent inflorescence with dense panicles of blue flowers borne above branches of dusty linear leaves. When in bloom, it is a magnet for hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. The rosettes of large leaves are attractive even as a 'not yet' flowering plant and the flower spikes can reach over 12ft when grown in mild areas so it is worth waiting for. On a sunny day, as you approach the spire you can hear the hum of hundreds of bees feasting on the flowers. Classified as endangered due to its restricted distribution range. This species is endemic to the island of La Palma, the Canary Islands, Spain.
Certainly the most sought-after of all Echium species that will bring crowds flocking to see it. Stunning!
Full sun is not essential, although partial shade will limit the ultimate height attained, requires well drained soil.
Zone 8+. Seeds available

Other Names: Giant Viper's Bugloss, Echium pininana, Blue Steeple, Tree Echium, Pine Echium, Tower of Jewels, Echium pinnifolium, Tajinaste, Taginaste
