Black Winter Emmer is a magnificent and scarce
heirloom wheat (Urkorn) that can be traced back to 3000 BC. It will
impress the most modern of cereal breeders with its totally erect leaf
architecture. Its stems are stiff and lodging-resistant. It thrives in
drought or heavy rain. This is a strikingly beautiful ancient grain
with dark purple to black husks and long awns. Highly ornamental, tall
and perfect for unique dried flower arrangements. Very limited amounts
of seeds available, however, a single seed, successfully grown and
harvested, typically produces several hundred of its kind.
Fusarium resistant. Used to be savored in soups, Bulgar, breakfast
cereal or flat-breads and pasta. Highly nutritious. Cold Hardy. Seeds available.
